Bug Reports
I am happy to announce that the new site is at last out in the wild but as we all know when camping there are always creepy crawlies and this forum is for you to post bugs that you may have found while using the site.
This includes layout issues, browser problems and any other nasties that need to face extermination.
If you are an Internet Explorer user and you are reading this, great, the front page bug that crashes the browser in all versions of IE is fixed. I still really would suggest using an alternative browser like Firefox, Flock or Safari if you are on a mac, to get the full functionality and usefulness out of the site.
Please leave details and the page url you are referring to for us to send the exterminators in.?

Hi
The logout button is part of the member admin bar - there has been a problem with the site automatically granting the correct roles and so for many people this bar is not showing up.
I have just been through 10 pages of users affected by this bug and manually granted the correct roles so please try again and you should now see the login button
Thanks
Gregg
Hi,
I Just joined AnimationSA about a Month ago, I've been trying to edit my profile, but can't seem to find where to edit it.
I found out from a friend of mine that I seem to missing the top Black Bar to access my Profile.
Is there something I need to do more on my side before I can access this?
Regards
Mike
Im also not able to edit my profile. I cant upload images or videos, is there something im doing wrong or did I just miss something.
Thanks for the bug reports guys, it seems that there is a problem with new signups not being granted the correct role (or any) role and as a result the admin bar is not shown.
I need to manually apply the correct roles and will post here once i have been able to.
Thanks
gregg
I still cant see the top bar and there is no way to log out. Would it be possible to delete my profile so that I can sign up again, if that would possibly fix the problem I would appreciate it. Thanks.

When viewing it looks like this: http://ploader.net/files/a4b13a4cc9398da5b4c3...
Note: The user information and his posted image is blurred out because of your ToS.
Using Firefox 4.
The little "arts blog" thumbnail display-box thing, with all the popular/recent image uploads is confusing names and artists and thumbnails. For example it shows two of one image with two different names on mouse over, or it puts the name of one of my images on someone elses work.
Been noticing on the pages where images and videos are rated/commented on individually, there's a scaling issue that has content half interlaced with adverts and boxes to the right of them, however not all of them do it.
I'm using Firefox.
thanks :D

My password is never 'remembered' by the site~ every time I log in it seems to think it's incorrect details (even when I use windows to remember my password) ~ I've tried many times -I have to get the temp log in each time I want to log in to the site.
?
Thanks

'just keep swimming'
Thanx that fixed it.
Whenever I try to access anything past the front page it comes out like it's a text based site with some messed up html formatting.
Any ideas?
What's the three most important things in an animated movie? Story, story, story. - Brad Bird
Hi Zolmaster
I think the issue with the pages losing the formatting has to do with any or all of the following issues.
- Server load and memory - the site is on a shared server currently and as the community grows is battling to keep up with the demands being placed on it. We really need to move over to a dedicated server to properly resolve this issue.
- Crappy Code -It is problematic when ppl paste in code from word that has lots of hidden style overrides and weird characters. It has broken the layout before and although I try and edit each article that comes through and cleanup the code, some still slips through. I need to install a more aggressive code cleanup filter so that when people post articles the hidden code is stripped out.
- Internet Explorer -This is an issue with IE in that css stylesheets over a certain size are sometimes ignored resulting in a loss of all styling.
I am aggregating the stylesheets to try and get around this problem but the best solution is to use any other browser other than IE.
Often a page refresh is required and the styling is corrected but it is a frustrating bug and I think moving to a better dedicated server will resolve this issue.
Thanks for the bug report

Uhhh - anyone know Drupal?
We need some help from the SA animation community to help make this site the incredible tool it could be. If anyone has experience in Drupal, please get in touch with us through the site. Thanks!
Hi
I just want to know?
I log in, and go anywhere on the site but as soon as I go to the jobs, I have to sign in again. I think there is something fishy.
And also I would like to know if you guys can maybe post the dates and times of the animation exchanges and if you do where is it?
Except for that THANK YOU (a big thank you) for a great site, It is Fantastic.
Riaan
Hi Rian
I will look into the jobs page bug... thre is something fishy going on there but I am not sure exactly what yet.
The animation xchange times and and news announcements are on the front page in the xchange section. The newsletter should be up and running again soon too.
Thanks for your comments.
Gregg
Hi Anwar
I just checked it out again and it seems to diplay fine to me. It seems to break if pasting the embed code so rather just use the url.
You should be able to view, edit and delete your videos from your "Your Profile" page accessable from the top dropdown menu.
Let me know if you run into problems again
Thanks
Gregg
It is a tad annoying not being able to use imbedded Vimeo videos as i'm not able to share my work.
Hi Gerhard
Most of the videos on this site are served by Vimeo so you should not have a problem.
From your member dashboard page you can choose to "Create Video"
Then where it asks for the video address paste in the url to your video on vimeo, ie http://www.vimeo.com/gerard/234234. The video will be recognised and will appear on your profile page and in the community video section.
Check out http://animationsa.org/faq for more info
Thanks
Gregg
