Nuke training

Nuke is fast becoming the industry standard in the UK film industry.

Its fast, node based and well supported.

Are folks using Nuke much in SA? Is AE the most common tool in SA film post houses?

thanks.

Id say its mostly After

Id say its mostly After effects, then Nuke or Fusion (maybe Toxic now as its bundled with Maya). But thats just my impression.
If you learn any one node based compositor, the others are very similar. The most important stuff is to learn the techniques of compositing.
You can easily move from one package to another once you know that - its just learning where to find the equivalent buttons to press.

There is probably little

There is probably little point in studying shake, as it has been discontinued now. You might be better off, and more employable if you spent that time learning Nuke, Fusion, or Toxic, if you want to learn a node-based compositing suite.
The concepts and approach are very much the same in all 4 comp suites, but Nuke, Toxic and Fusion are actively developed.

You can find tutorials for Nuke and Fusion here - cmivfx.com

Also visit vfxtalk.com for lots of threads about compositing in general
