Sick idea, i love the detail in general, specially the horses neck... Maybe i just like necks or something..

Perhaps you could work on the colour, isolating a couple lights so that the character pops a bit more from the background? Alot of great detail-work isn't standing out as it should.

I'd also expect the flames to be casting alot more light on the ground.
