SAFTAS will take place on Saturday 6th February 2010 - All entries must reach the NFVF offices by 16:00 hrs on Friday 31st July 2009.

The SAFTA awards will be presented in the following 7(seven) sections.

  • TELEVISION 
  • TV FICTION :  
  • TV COMEDY, TV DRAMA (Series, Mini Series and Made for TV Movie) and TV SOAP  
  • TV NON FICTION  
  • FEATURE FILM 
  • STUDENT FILM 
  • SHORT FILM 
  • DOCUMENTARY & WILDLIFE
  • ANIMATION 

SPECIAL AWARDS

The primary objective of the SAFTA Awards is to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellenceof South African Film and Television talentand productions, and to encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talentwithin the industry.

WHO MAY SUBMIT AN ENTRY

Films or television productions must be entered for consideration by, producers or production companies, distributors or broadcasters or (authorised representatives) who are the owners of the copyright to the entered program or film. An authorised representative is defined as a person appointed by the eligible copyright owner to make an entry on their behalf.
B. In the case where an authorised representative, agent; manager; studio; production company or broadcast entity facilitates the entry by completing an entry form on behalf of an individual, the listed entrant will be considered as the eligible entrant.
C. Programmes submitted in a particular award section, will be automatically eligible for all relevant awards categories in the section. Individuals may not submit entries for individual category awards.
D. Student entrants must be registered with a recognized education facility during the eligible time of entry. Professionals who produced material as students during the eligible entry period may only submit student projects under student categories. Any project produced, as a professional must be entered into the professional categories.
E. Next of kin may make an entry on behalf of a deceased relative, provided that the deceased relative is the copyright owner of the submitted program. Proof of relation is to accompany submission plus a death certificate.

2 ENTRY PROCEDURE:

A. Entry Forms
a. Application forms can be found on the NFVF website www.nfvf.co.za (click on the SAFTAS link).

b. Application forms can also be requested from SAFTAS staff at the NFVF. (Please contact the staff at the NFVF saftas@nfvf.co.za 011 483 0880)


c. or they can be collected at the National Film & Video Foundation – NFVF offices: 87 Central Street, Houghton, Johannesburg 2198 between 09h00 – 16h00 during the entry period.
d. Photocopies of the printable entry forms are acceptable.
e. Correct entry information is the responsibility of the entrant. The SAFTA Committee nor the SAFTAS staff will be held liable for incorrect information on the entry form
f. In the case of TV, all entrants are to indicate with episode each cast and crew member appears.
g. All entry forms are to be signed by the entrant.

B. All forms must be submitted with the relevant DVD(S) per entry either by mail/courier or physical delivery to:

C. All entries (forms and DVDs) are to be submitted no later than the closing date and time of 16h00 Friday 31st July 2009
D. All entries must be submitted with the relevant entry fees.
