June Meeting Feedback
Junes Animation Xchange meetings in both Cape Town and Joburg were packed with great work and an overall focus on animation in gaming. A few local companies showed some of the interesting animation orientated stuff being used in interactive applications, mobile games and an awesome new movie from the Blender foundation.
Joburg's June xChange was kindly hosted by Wits University. It was great to be back where xChange Joburg all started!
BookWorm!
Craig Horne delivered a fantastic presentation on his work for a self-published children's book entitled "Doug the Tug". Written by Craig and his partner Bronwyn, the book was fully illustrated in 3D. All images were created by Craig in Maya. Craig walked us through the trials and tribulations of self-publishing.
Craig walked us through all of the processes employed in the printing of their book and gave aspiring auteurs some pointers on what pitfalls to llok out for and even recommended publishers he has found to be helpful!
BUNNIES...?
We showed the newly-released "Big Buck Bunny" created by the open source Blender Foundation. Seems like there were furry rabbits sighted throughout South Africa (see below!)
EURO-FEVA!
Supinfocom student work was shown again and was, as always, breathtaking and wonderfully executed.
